Eight Seconds by Paul Freud

8 seconds

Paul Freud writes:

With reference to attached image which was derived from original sketch drawing who’s process was intrinsic to its achievement. The expediency derived from the practice, once achieved acceded to the shift of emphasis that encompassed part performance as part of its existence.’

Materials – charcoal on paper. The image headlined the opening for Freud’s exhibition in the  Scandinavian Drawing Museum.  As of May 2012 Freud has been the only non-Scandinavian to exhibit at this exclusive museum dedicated solely to drawing.

17 Seconds by Paul Freud

17 Seconds was born as a result of an experiment in speed painting. Paul had already had a charcoal self-portrait (which took him just 10 seconds) exhibited in Sweden and was keen to try something in colour.

After six months of experimenting and several hundred attempts Paul finally felt he had something that was excellent – and it took him 17 seconds to complete, from start to finish.

That’s not bad!
